9) Mercutio gives a wonderful monologue on Queen Mab in Act 1, Scene 4. Examine this passage and discuss its literary qualities. Of what significance is Mercutio's speech to the overall play?
The speaker criticizes the room’s owner at length, only to discover that the room is his own.
In a clear example from literature, in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar , Mark Antony's speech after the assassination of Caesar appears to praise the assassins, particularly Brutus ("But Brutus says he was ambitious; / And Brutus is an honourable man"), while actually condemning them. "We're left in no doubt as to who's ambitious and who's honourable. The literal truth of what's written clashes with the perceived truth of what's meant to revealing effect, which is irony in a nutshell". 
Diacope is an example of a rhetorical scheme . Do note that some rhetoricians such as Arthur Quinn and Richard Lanham suggest that diacope can, in another secondary meaning, be used interchangeably with tmesis .
